About the Study

The Hispanic Community Health Study/Study of Latinos (HCHS/SOL) is the largest, most comprehensive long-term study of Hispanic and Latino health and disease in the United States. Participants were recruited in 2008-2010 through multi-stage probability sampling across four field centers (Chicago, IL; Miami, FL; Bronx, NY; and San Diego, CA). Participants returned for two in-person clinic examinations, with a fourth examination anticipated next year.

Research Opportunities

  • Interested researchers can lead impactful publications and submit proposals for ancillary studies funded through dedicated grant opportunities, leveraging existing cohort data to address novel research questions.
  • Graduate students and postdoctoral fellows have strong opportunities for theses, dissertations, mentored research projects, and secondary data analysis.
  • Early-career investigators are encouraged to apply for NIH R-series awards using existing datasets and population.
