Incoming Assistant Professor, College of Arts and Sciences Dr. Mirea is an incoming Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology, starting in summer 2027. His research investigates the socio-cognitive mechanisms underlying mental health and its treatment as they manifest in the real world, as well as how digital technologies like social media and AI interact with users’ mental health. He is especially interested in the psychological processes underlying social connection and how these shape our interactions with other humans, and increasingly with AI, in virtual and text-based settings. His approach leverages computational tools (cognitive modeling and large language models) to study behavior in both controlled experiments and digital environments.
